Overview

In ensuring Springfields has a constant steam of suitably qualified & experienced employees, great emphasis is given to training and development to maintain and improve the skills base of the organisation. It is justifiably proud of its Engineering Apprentice training and Graduate development programmes.

Springfields is an Associate Member of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN) and is an NSAN – Quality Assured Provider for Engineering Training. Close working links have been forged with the NSAN and other associated bodies such as COGENT the sector skills council for the chemical, oil and gas, polymer, petroleum and nuclear industries. Springfields will work with these, and other partners on a number of initiatives in meeting the organisation’s strategic needs.

The Westinghouse Manufacturing System (WMS) will be a foundation for how we do business, with two of the fundamentals being in Training and Human Performance.
Key areas of training include:

  • Conventional and Behavioural Safety Training, including Human Performance.
  • Management and Leadership Training
  • Engineering (Adult) Training
  • Plant Training (Operational)

In addition to this many opportunities exist to increase links with local organisations, not only to enhance the skill base of SFL, but also within the local community and the North West generally.
